Sega Arcade Classics book is here!
My copy of Hardcore Gaming Presents: Sega Arcade Classics Volume 1 arrived yesterday morning! The front cover looks even more beautiful in print, and the book itself is larger than I was expecting, larger than a majority of these Japanese Sega books I have anyway. More photos after the jump!
Here is some of my Sega book collection all piled up together. Arcade Classics is not a super thick book at 168 pages but the copy I got is the full colour edition which is really quite stunning, full to the brink with screenshots and artwork from the games. Also unlike most of the books in this pile I can actually read this one!
The articles are taken directly from the website, just as additive to read as before and to have them in book form is fantastic. Each series that is represented is a series that debuted in the arcades in the 80's and early 90's (excluding Alex Kidd), and every game form said series is covered, even some fan games, unreleased and mobile releases. Opa Opa and his twin here are really impressed that even Space Fantasy Zone got a page!
More or less every port of the games are covered too, including sections like this above with comparison screenshots. The back of the book contains a list of collections that the games were bundled on as well as a list of soundtrack CDs, and a bonus comic which was featured on this blog some years ago starring Harrier and Opa Opa! :)
If you haven't grabbed this book yet what are you waiting for? It's $25/£16 which is an absolute bargain and it's nice to have a book in English not about Sonic for a change (even if the upcoming Udon release of History of Sonic is a much bigger book). I really hope more volumes are in the pipeline!

Looking forward to reading this one, but it'll have to be a post-December thing... Looks fantastic though!
Really awesome looking book! I put it on my wish list for Robotnik Claus.
