Sonic the Hedgehog 4

Alright, alright. I know that the first post made here at Sega Memories clearly stated "Sega Memories is all about anything Sega outside of the games", but how could I not make an excited post about Sonic the Hedgehog 4?? Rather than mention the gameplay or systems it's on, I'll post the bit that is of pertinence to Sega Memories readers. From the official Sonic 4 (god, I love typing that) website:

Our Legendary hero returns! With the Death Egg finally destroyed, and Angel Island back in the sky, Sonic decides it's time to take a break and heads off to explore a new territory on his own. However unbeknownst to Sonic, Eggman has also survived their last encounter, and has begun taking measures to rid himself of our hero. Armed with his signature Speed, super Spin Dash - and powerful Homing Attack, Sonic is ready for an all-new adventure!

Now to speculate on what kick-ass merchandise this game will bring... :)

^ No, not this. ^

Fingers crossed for a physical release! ;-D

It could happen, once all the episodes are out.

I'd happily purchase it again, to place it alongside the Ultimate Genesis Collection.

I'd definitely prefer a physical release, but I'd rather get the download instead of waiting...I really this game is as good as it seems....

Gotta love how the message boards are still finding things to complain about based on a few seconds we've seen. Waaah he still has green eyes that you wont even be able to see in-game! Big deal! (Though I did have a feeling all the classic merchandise we've had recently may of been leading to the return on that old design, I guess not. Oh well.)

And that bag is clearly merchandise for the future release of Sonic 10: Obama harry potter edition, due just in time for Sonic's 25th anniversary.

I think a return to chubby stubby Sonic would give newer fans visual whiplash.

Pretty much. It'd be impossible to please everyone: already there are some younger fans moaning that Shadow isn't in this game. What you gonna do?

Ignore the younger fans and just full out cater to the audience this game is clearly aimed at - jaded, 20 somethings who owned Mega Drives. This is hardly going to be a big seller for the Shadow demographic, I don't think it would have hurt to gone completely classic design wise. Still, you're certainly right in saying that 3 unrevealing seconds of footage is not enough to make any kind of judgement. Still, as with any Sonic release, approach with caution ;P
